Top 10 list of to-do’s for rising 9th-grade families

to-do-list

  1. Enjoy summer, and get ready for an amazing freshman year of high school! We’re so excited for all we’ve got planned, and we hope you are, too!
  2. Check out the summer reading list, and reserve titles for free at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library. Email our new high school teacher, Ali Johnson, if you have any questions.
  3. Get a jump-start on buying school supplies. High school supply list is here.
  4. Begin logging volunteer service hours. Each high-schooler is required to log 50 volunteer hours per year. Read more about community service requirements here.  Feel free to use this sample log as a guide.
  5. Our staff could use some help assembling brand-new furniture and arranging their new high school environment. Please have your rising freshman email our staff if they are interested in logging some service hours.
  6. We still have openings in our PTO leadership. If you have special talents, hobbies or strengths, contact our PTO president to plug yourself in and see where you can help.
  7. Join the PTO. As a symbol of your commitment to our common goals, we ask all our families, teachers and administrators to be dues-paying members of our Parent-Teacher Organization.
  8. If you haven’t already done so, subscribe to our e-blast to stay informed of the happenings at Sedgefield Montessori.
  9. Sign up for our private Sedgefield Montessori parent Google group, where everyone is welcome to post about carpooling, school-related questions, meet-ups and more. You do not have to have a Gmail address in order to participate, and members must be pre-approved before posting or viewing past posts.
  10. Like Sedgefield Montessori PTO on Facebook. We post photos from the classroom, keep you up to date on Sedgefield Montessori news and events, and we even link to Montessori and CMS-related news so you can stay “in the know” and involved in the greater Charlotte Montessori community.

HAPPY SUMMER, YA’LL!
