You’ve probably heard by now that CMS has stalled plans to expand our program with grades 9 through 12 because they’re not sure yet where to put it (in 2017.) But that shouldn’t hold up the first year of our expansion, which could happen right at Sedgefield, where the program sits today. We only have until November 10 to get the Montessori expansion back in the plans for 2016, so we really need your help. See, the school board can help us—they can direct CMS staff to act on this now rather than putting it off again for another year. But the school board needs a little nudge first. That’s where you come in!
We need as many voices as possible urging school members to request that CMS staff:
1. Include the addition of 9th grade Montessori in the 2016 plans.
2. Make the permanent location for the secondary Montessori program a priority during the Capital Needs Assessment that kicks off this December.
Don’t forget to mention, too, what you love about your child’s Montessori education. Call or write to your school board members as soon as possible to show your support! Just a few sentences will do, and your voice matters—this really can make a difference. For all of our kids. Thank you!
Pro Tip: To save time, write one email and blind copy (bcc) all of the board members.
