PTO president’s message about need for volunteers

Dara Whittle headshotVolunteering at the middle school level is very different than the elementary level. We don’t have seven years to get warmed up to the idea of volunteering. Some 7th grade parents feel they may need some time to get acclimated to a new program before they jump in and volunteer. Our program is only a two-year program, so we need folks to step up this first year and help out. Our program is also smaller than most middle schools, which makes volunteering even more important. If you want to see this PTO continue to succeed, we need your talents and time.
  • We still need a lead volunteer for our Kid’s Camp fundraiser (where our kids are the counselors and the campers are Upper El kids). This fundraiser has amazing potential, but it does need a strong leader.  Please consider helping our kids feel the pride of earning their own money without having to sell stuff. Read more about this volunteer position.
  • We also need a lead for our Invest in Secondary Montessori campaign. We managed to get this project going at the start of the year without a lead, but we really need someone to help us take charge for the rest of the year.
  • Lastly, we need someone to shadow Janet Haas as Communications Co-Chair so that we don’t risk losing momentum next year. For those of you who were here last year, you know how significant Janet has been to our program. We really need a 7th grade parent to help us keep up our communications efforts strong.  Please contact Janet if this is a good fit for you. Read more about this volunteer position.
Please contact me if you are able to take charge of any of these efforts. Thanks so much!
