We are in countdown mode to the Oct. 13 presentation to the school board for the Montessori High School. Please plan to attend the meeting and show CMS how important this proposal is to our community. The meeting starts 6 p.m. at the Government Center at 600 East 4th Street in Charlotte. Even if you are not planning to send your student to the Montessori high school, show your support for Montessori education. We all know it works!
We are coordinating efforts for kids to stay after school to create posters and then carpool over to the Government Center at 5:30. If you are interested in participating, please contact Dara Whittle. Help us round up as many folks as you can. Plan to wear your Montessori t-shirts and make posters supporting a full secondary Montessori (7-12) so we can really make our presence known. We plan to gather at Kickstand Burger Bar at 1101 Central Avenue in Charlotte after the meeting for dinner and socializing. This entire evening is a great opportunity for our kids to participate in advocacy work.
Also, don’t forget to contact your school board representative either before and/or after the meeting on October 13. They vote on this proposal on November 10, so there is time to contact them even after next week’s meeting. Use this guide on how to contact your school board rep to express your support. These at-large school board members represent the entire district and should be included in your communications:
