In search of Kids Camp volunteers

So what exactly is Kids’ Camp? It is an event where we invite upper el students to be “campers” at Sedgefield Montessori, where the middle school kids are the “camp counselors.” We charge the elementary families $40 for a day of child care on a teacher workday. This event is a FANTASTIC way for our kids to earn their own money and learn some responsibility, and it is a great way to market our school. All the kids have a blast with each other, building relationships; Sedgefield students get to hone their leadership skills; and the upper el students get a taste of what Secondary Montessori is all about.

We are looking for an organized parent to assist in this student-led fundraiser. The ideal volunteer-angel of mercy would take responsibility for the following, which can be done in the comfort of their home at any time of the day:

  • They will need to use SignUp Genius to register campers and organize volunteers.
  • Serve as a PTO liaison with our teachers, who are orchestrating counselor training during the school day.
  • Serve as a liaison with administration to coordinate space and logistics.
  • Serve as a liaison with our communications chair and the elementary liaisons to advertise the event and communicate with the Montessori elementary schools.                                                                                                                                                                         This volunteer-angel of mercy is not required to work the event, as long as they can secure the proper volunteers. Our next Kid’s Camp event is scheduled for October 23rd, so we need to find someone soon. If you think you can help us, please contact Dara Whittle.
